My journey began in a humble, middle-class family, where I learned early that life doesn’t often hand out opportunities—you have to create them. Watching my father, a dedicated merchant who worked quietly to provide for our family, I absorbed the values of hard work and integrity. Yet I also saw that, in a world where people are often defined by family names and connections, I would have to build a name that could speak for itself.
Education for me was a path filled with obstacles. Lacking influential connections, I couldn’t access the top institutions and often found myself in private colleges, feeling both under-resourced and out of place. Yet, these challenges became fuel for my ambition. With an education loan, I was able to pursue an MBA—a turning point in my life. I embraced every chance to lead, from winning the “Best Manager” competition to stepping into leadership roles that began to shape my understanding of personal branding and influence.
My career truly took shape at Vodafone, one of the world’s leading telecommunications companies. Immersing myself in Vodafone’s corporate culture, I had the opportunity to work across sales, customer service, and operations, experiences that taught me the importance of collaboration and innovation in achieving growth. Working in a diverse, cross-cultural team pushed me to grow not only professionally but also personally. I became fluent in Arabic, improved my Hindi, and picked up Tamil, strengthening my ability to connect across boundaries.
Recognized for my dedication and results, I quickly advanced, receiving awards like Best Performer and various incentives that validated my commitment to excellence. Some of my most formative lessons came from experienced mentors who recognized my potential for training and guided me in honing my leadership skills. This period in my career laid a strong foundation, shaping my belief in the power of mentorship and resilience.
While thriving at Vodafone, I found myself drawn to the emerging field of digital marketing. I noticed the untapped potential of digital tools to transform small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), a revelation that inspired me to explore this further. During my days off, I partnered with a colleague to visit local businesses, offering digital marketing solutions that we managed remotely. These early projects, from handling social media campaigns to conducting photoshoots, taught me the impact that digital strategies could have on business growth.
This experience fueled my vision of helping SMEs achieve their potential, and it set me on a path toward personal branding and digital marketing.
When COVID-19 struck, I was stranded in Qatar, separated from my family, financially strained, and facing one of the most challenging periods of my life. But instead of succumbing to despair, I dedicated myself to learning. Surrounded by uncertainty, I used every free moment to immerse myself in online courses, webinars, and research on digital strategy and personal branding. This intense period of learning proved to be transformative, equipping me with the tools and vision to take my next steps.
Fueled by my newfound knowledge, I launched The Farhan Akhtar Show, a one-minute storytelling platform that celebrated the journeys of entrepreneurs and industry leaders. Recognizing the power of collaboration, I knew that by helping others share their stories, I could expand my own brand’s reach while creating meaningful connections within the entrepreneurial community.
The Farhan Akhtar Show quickly gained momentum, resonating deeply with audiences, particularly within the Malayalee community. The show allowed me to establish connections with respected figures, transforming my network and reinforcing my belief in the power of storytelling as a personal branding tool.
Today, my mission is clear: to empower 1,000 visionary leaders—entrepreneurs, coaches, and innovators—by helping them define and build influential personal brands. Through programs like Be a Brand and Personal Branding 360, I aim to make a lasting impact on those I work with, guiding them to lead with authenticity and purpose.
